3 Who is the Audience? In your small group brainstorm the names of several magazines. Seventeen Magazine Teenage girls Relating Factor: Are the intended audience for as Complete a Bridge Map like the one below.

4 Knowing your audience is important because... 8 If I can find some common ground between us, I can use this to persuade you to do …whatever. (ex. “You have always wanted me to be responsible and having a pet will teach me responsibility.”) Referred to as “identification”, this can be the most powerful persuasive tool at our disposal. Looks at what we have in common and how this can be used to enlarge upon our similarities. (ex. We were both in the Marines, born in Illinois, etc.) Focus on common goals. For example, we both want this thing so therefore you should go along with my way of thinking.
