L.O. SWBA To discuss and identify the processes of formation of three kinds of rocks through rock cycle. STANDARD: S3 - CONCEPT OF EARTH AND SPACE GOAL:Understanding the process of rock cycle and different kinds of rocks
2
Do Now Explain the difference between three kinds of rocks. 2

Major Rock Groups Igneous – Formed from a melt (molten rock) – (intrusive ): slow cooling and crystallization – (extrusive): quick cooling at the surface Sedimentary – Formed at the Earth’s surface – Clastic or Detrital (Mineral Fragments or grains, clays) – Chemical (crystalline chemical/biochemical precipitates) – Organic (formed by the living material like plants, animals, etc) Metamorphic – Changed by pressure, temperature and fluids. Foliated (Visible of layers of grains of minerals) Non-Foliated (Not distinguished layers of minerals) 3

HOME WORK CREATE YOUR OWN ROCK CYCLE AND USE YOUR OWN ANIMATED FIGURES TO GO THROUGH THESE GEOLOGICAL CHANGES TO CHANGE FROM ONE ROCK TO ANOTHER. Don’t forget to mention the processes through which these rocks go through to change from one form to another. Remember it must be neat and colorful and the paper must be attached to the construction paper.
