3 More about entrances AIPMT (All India Pre Medical/ Pre Dental Entrance Test) is a national level entrance test for the admission to MBBS and BDS courses. For this year, AIPMT 2016 will be conducted on 1st May 2016 (announced). AIPMT examination is conducted by the CBSE, New Delhi. Some Universities/Institutions/states are also participating in the AIPMT for admission to their medical seats. The candidates are advised to go through the general information for the AIPMT 2016: The application form can be filled online only. The Information brochure and the application form will be available only on the official site of the board. All instructions for the online submission are available in the information brochure. Before applying the candidates must make sure the eligibility criteria for the admission. The candidates not satisfying the instruction given in the information brochure shall be instantly disqualified. 4 Duration of course In India, training in dentistry is through a 5-year BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) course, which includes 4 years of study followed by one year of internship. As of 2010, there were a total of 291 colleges (39 run by the government and 252 in the private sector) offering dental education. This amounts to an annual intake of 23,690 graduates Post graduate training is for three years in the concerned speciality. Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) is offered in the following subjects - Prosthodontics Periodontics Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics Oral Pathology & Microbiology Community Dentistry Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry Oral Medicine Diagnosis and Radiology. Dental education in India is regulated by the Dental Council of India

5 Salary when a dentist The average salary for a Dentist is Rs 250,571 per year. The highest paying skills associated with this job are Dentistry, Prosthodontics, and dentist. Most people move on to other jobs if they have more than 10 years' experience in this field.

14 Higher studies in dentistry Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is an under graduate course which deals with the study of dentistry. One can achieve this degree in 3 years. These graduates can opt for higher studies in various fields to improve their career scope. Qualification Criteria for Higher Studies after BDS Students should obtain BDS degree from a recognized institute. They should have scored at least 50% marks in the degree so that they can seek for higher studies in reputed institutions. Some of the institutions conduct entrance tests to admit students into this course. Some other institutes also demand certain other criteria other than the academic aptitude. Higher study options after BDS Quite a few higher studies options are available. The list of higher study options one can opt for after completing BDS include MDS of many sorts

There is a very high increase in scope of Dentistry all around the world, people are more aware now and more concerned about Oral health and have come to know the importance of a good smile in looking beautiful or professional. the concentration of Dentists is mainly seen in Urban population and when we go to the Rural places the Ratio of Dentists to population is very worrying and way below par. The most important part in increase in number of Dental Jobs in India because of the increase in number of Dental Clinics and more importantly Dental clinic chains all around India. Dental chains and clinics are using goo amount of advertising to look for new graduates to work in Dental clinics.
