1 I found again in the heart of a friend
I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For, so swiftly it flew, the sight Could not follow it in its flight. I breathed a song into the air, For who has sight so keen and strong, That it can follow the flight of song? Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke; And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend At last I can be with you! The grinding hours Since I left your side! The labor of being fully human, Working my opposable thumb, Talking, and walking upright. Now I have unclasped Unzipped, stepped out of. Husked, soft, a be-er only, I do nothing, but point My bare feet into your Clean smoothness Feel your quiet strength The whole length of my body. I close my eyes, hear myself Moan, so grateful to be held this way. Poems
