Cooperative Unit for Fisheries and Education Research CUFER Develop the human resources and expertise needed for the future research and management of resources under the responsibility of NOAA Fisheries: it supports postdoctoral and research associates, as well as students, who receive practical training in management-oriented research.

Future role of CIMAS in University academics Strengthen Postdoc programs, ideally by seeking funding that is not tied to externally funded research projects; Revive visiting scientist program for Fisheries, possibly through collaboration with the CSF; Increase participation in the NOAA EPP/MSI program; Plan mechanisms that will ensure that current collaborative opportunities do not get weakened by future changes in the RSMAS campus
