2. Cover page: Must contain a book title (containing the word "biomes") and book author and class period

3. Page 1: Paste or draw world map of all the biomes. It should be colored with a key and must take up the entire page of the book. View the ‘file manager- notes’ link for a world map that can be colored.

Page 2: Vocabulary 1.Biome- a large geographic area of ecosystems with similar climates and organisms 2.Niche- how an organisms survives, including its habitat, how it obtains food, and how it avoids danger 3.Climate- the average weather pattern for a particular region over a certain time period This information should be completed on page 2 of your biome book.

6. Snapshot of Texas Texas has two major overlapping biomes: -Temperate deciduous forest -Grassland Characteristic organisms of these biomes: - Squirrels - Pecan trees - Raccoon - White-tailed deer - Red Fox - Blue jay - Coyote

7. Pages 3-5: Discuss 2 biomes on each page totaling the six major terrestrial biomes. These biomes are tundra, taiga, tropical rain forest, temperate deciduous forest, desert, and grassland. For each biome they must tell its location, climate, precipitation, soil quality, characteristics plants, and characteristic animals. The teacher will supply the 6 pictures of terrestrial biomes to be colored and pasted.

8. Page 6: Aquatic Biomes- for the two water biomes (marine and freshwater) students must tell what the different zones are. For each zone, students should tell the depth underwater, the temperature, and the plants and animals found there.
