President Obama’s North Star The Initiative‘s objectives are to increase educational opportunities, improve educational outcomes, and deliver a complete and competitive education for all Hispanics, from cradle to career. Key priorities - College Access and Postsecondary Completion

Future Workforce o Over the next decade, 8 in 10 new jobs will require some workforce training or postsecondary education o Currently, of the 30 fastest growing jobs in the US, half require at least a 4-year degree o From 2002 to 2050, Latinos will account for 60% of nation’s population growth o 24% of the nation’s K-12 public school student body is Latino Higher Education Subcommittee: President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics

Hispanics in Higher Education 76% of Hispanic students graduate from high school 69% of Hispanic high school graduates immediately enrolling in college 15% of Hispanic adults hold Bachelor’s Degrees or higher “In today’s knowledge-based, globally competitive economy, a world-class education and some postsecondary schooling [are] essential.” —U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, September 2013.
