2 Math problems: decimal Definition Types Fraction Test

3 Types Fraction Test Definition a fraction with an unwritten denominator of 10 or some power of 10, indicated by a point Examples: 0.53,0.3,0.22

4 Types Fraction Test Definition Types of decimals 1.Repeating decimals: It goes on forever repeating the same digits over and over. ex: 0.66666...., 0.123123123..., 0.104710471047... 2.terminating decimal: A terminating decimal is a decimal that stops. ex: 1/8 = 0.125, 1/50 =0.02, 1/32 = 0.03125 3.irrational decimal: An irrational decimal is one that does not terminate or repeat. ex: pi, the square root of 2, any other non-perfect square roots

5 Types Fraction Test Definition Terminal decimal: 0.25 Repeating decimal: 0.666… x=0.666.. 10x=6.666 10x-x=6 x=6/9 25/100=1/4 Irrational decimal: A non-terminating AND NON-REPEATING decimal CANNOT be converted to a fraction You should probably just memorize some of the more basic repeating decimals, like 0.33333... = 1 / 3 and 0.666666... = 2 / 3
