Project Proposal Of A 65nm CMOS UWB Transmitter Design
Tao Wang, Alex Wang For EE800 Project Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering University of Saskatchewan

Motivation IR-UWB (impulse radio-ultra wideband) has received a significant attention for current wireless communication applications. an extremely narrow Gaussian monocycle pulses which cover a huge frequency spectrum to represent transmitted information. It can transmit a huge amount of data with very low power. It has the capability to pass through physical objects. it is widely used in target positioning, portable wireless sensing and communications.

Motivation (cont) This project will design an IR-UWB wireless transmitter. Schematic implementation, simulation, and layout with CMOS 65nm process technology. It will be used in the whole IR-UWB wireless transceiver design and test in the future work.

Methodology The circuit modules will cover random pulse generator, modulator, and transmitted antenna. The modulator design is most focused in this project. Several modulated methods will be designed and compared based on the frequency spectrum band we care. OOK ( ON-OFF data modulator) PPM ( pulse position modulator) PAM ( pulse amplitude modulator) LC tank modulor

Objective Finish the whole UWB wireless transmitter circuit design with different modulate methods. With simulation result, we should get the idea which modulate method will be used in the future. If everything is smooth in the design, we hope the step of abstract will be done and post-simulation will come out. 5
