Why is the Apply Texas application needed?  In order for students to take the PAAM (which is the pre-assessment for the TSI, the test students take to qualify for dual credit courses) they must have completed the ApplyTX application and received an (800) number. This number will take 5 – 10 days to process.  If we want to increase the numbers of students taking Dual Credit Courses, we must increase the numbers of students taking the TSI.  Students can begin dual credit courses starting their freshman year in HS now. This is why we are administering the ApplyTX to all students.

 Remember we now offer your Associate of Arts degree at Andress! (This is 2 years of college credit free)  If you want college credits in High School, you must qualify to take Dual Credit classes.  This means you must take the PAAM and TSI test. Both require completing the ApplyTX application

ApplyTexas application  Freshman: You can graduate with a two year College degree (AA)  Sophomore: You can qualify to take more dual credit courses (but you might not earn the full AA)  Juniors: You can qualify to take more dual credit courses your senior year.  Seniors: You can use this time as a study hall. (Or Graduate for Mas)

Dual Credit Courses  Dual Credit Courses give you high school credit AND college credit. This saves you thousands of dollars because you don’t have to take these classes again in college.  You graduate from Andress with two transcripts. You will have a HS transcript and a College transcript.  Even if you don’t think you are going to college right away, these classes will last on your college transcript forever. When you do go to college, you won’t have to take these classes.

Andress Information to save  Please make sure that you save certain information from your Apply Texas Application. We need this to help you find your information later. DIRECTIONS:  Open up two tabs on your browser.  The first tab will be for the ApplyTexas application www.applytexas.org www.applytexas.org  The second tab is to save the information that we need to assist you with college applications, scholarships, and Dual Credit courses. http://tinyurl.com/2015applytexasAHS
