Long Island Regional Economic Development Council New York State Consolidated Funding Application Grant

The Connect Long Island Partnership, facilitated by the Long Island Forum for Technology and led by the three Long Island local workforce investment boards (LWIBS), consolidated 8 separate organizational proposals under the Workforce Innovation Network (WIN) Proposal. The WIN Proposal was included in the LIREDC’s Strategic Plan. 2

The Long Island Business and Workforce Investment Project (LIBWIP) was among the proposals included in the WIN Proposal. The LIBWIP was submitted for funding through the CFA process by the Town of Hempstead Department of Occupational Resources (DOOR) on behalf of the 3 LI LWIBs. The proposal was selected for funding under the New York State Economic Development Purposes Fund in the amount of $427,535. The LIBWIP was unique in that it was a LWIB led project funded under the CFA process. 3

The goal of the project was to educate, train and provide job development for a pool of workers to be employed by Long Island firms. This project was transformative in that it fostered economic development through workforce development. 4
