Students must study the following 9 topics. 3.1 Hardware 3.2 Software 3.3 Networks 3.4 Internet 3.5 Personal and public communications 3.6 Multimedia/digital media 3.7 Databases 3.8 Spreadsheets, modelling and simulations 3.9 Introduction to project management HL extension Students must study the following topics. 3.10 IT systems in organizations 3.11 Robotics, artificial intelligence and expert systems 3.12 Information systems specific to the annually issued case study

Reliability and Integrity: It is important that the air traffic controllers are reliable, that they do their job to their fullest potential so that the plane lands and departs at/from the airport safely. Security: To make sure that the systems are secure so that no one can hack into them and mess things up that could affect the flights. Surveillance: It is important that the planes are visible when about to land or take off, and also when on the runways to see if it is clear or if there is an airplane on it. Policies: They have to have policies so that people don’t do inappropriate things such as drinking alcohol, which could lead to all sorts of problems. Standards and Protocols: They should know what to do incase of an emergency. And also what to do so that this never happens (an emergency). People and Machines: People have to be skilled and trained to use to the computers and control the air traffic because if something goes wrong and they don’t know what to do, something bad could happen. Business and Employment: The people that get employed have to be well trained to work with this computer system, if everything goes well, no delays, etc, then the business will go well. Education and Training: They should be well educated and trained. Health: They should make sure that the passengers arrive and depart safely.
