6 Traction and Success Brazil—In October 2011, passed its long-stalled Access to Information Law. UK—In December 2011, undertook largest data release since taking office, publishing essential information on everything from weather and house price data to transport and health information. United States—In late 2011, President signed a memorandum to modernize the nation’s management of government records; signed on to the International Aid Transparency Initiative, and is adopting the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. Philippines—In early 2012, government announced that it will revive a long-stalled Access to Information bill in Congress and attempt to pass this year.
