MY TRIP TO INDIA (2012) By Manroop
2
This was my third trip to India and I enjoyed it a lot. India is one of the most populated countries in the world, so you can imagine how overwhelming it can be. Another thing is the plane ride to India which takes 24 hours! It especially sucks for me since I hate going in planes. The first thing I do once we land is take a gigantic breath of fresh air. That one breath of fresh air gave me a whole energy boost. The first thing my parents and I did was get a water bottle, and the one sip I took was just incredibly refreshing. most populated countries

Seas of people were surrounding the luggage conveyor belt. Everyone was trying to hunt for their belongings. Once we passed the security check we were able to leave, finally! Exiting the airport was so relieving. A bunch of people were around the exit waiting for their families to show up. We spotted my uncle, it was very nice seeing him after 2 years. He had rented a huge bus for the 4 of us. It was very spacious on the inside. Now we were en route to Jalandhar Punjab, which would take us 6 hours to drive to.Jalandhar Punjab

Driving in India is horrendous! All you hear are these weird horns going off. There are bumpy roads, and people drive in the wrong lane! You basically have to hold on for your life! Canada and India have numerous differences. Everyone was starving and we all needed a break from driving, so we stopped at a diner. The food in India is divine. I ordered a Paneer Paratha with a glass of Lassi. Mmm the food there is delicious, up until this day I remember how good it was. It tasted just as if it was homemade. Paratha Lassi

Our first stop was at a temple located not to far from my dad’s village. We had to go there to perform a ceremony for my grandfather’s death. At the temple it had quite a peaceful and calm vibe. It was quite emotional while doing the ceremony, it was like another funeral but with people who couldn’t attend the first one. The ceremony was done, and we all took a break. We all needed that break to just take everything in. temple

Once we had left we saw a wild troop of monkeys! Now we were only a few minutes away from my fathers village. Kids were playing all around us. Once we got to my dads house I was delighted to see my cousins. It was like we hadn't seen each other for thousands of years. The first thing we did was play a game of cricket in the grass field behind the house All of my focus was towards hitting the ball far away. The sound of the ball flying away was my cue to run. After playing the game of cricket, I was extremely thirsty. We decided to grab a glass of fresh milk, and go onto the roof top.

One of my most favourite things about going to India is going to the Golden Temple. The Golden Temple was just breath taking, its just so gorgeous. Putting your foot in the cold pool of water, gave you the chills. Hundreds of people walking around, and taking pictures. My parents making sure that I didn’t get lost, had a strong grip on my hands. Now it was time for the hardest part, which was leaving. For the two weeks we went for I had a blast. I defiantly was going to miss everything about it. Hanging out with my family, is one of the most things I miss. All of the different dishes that I ate, are things I remember. Some of the things I don’t miss are all of the mosquitos that buzzed and bit me and all of the noises the cows made.
