1 Thursday, August 7, 2014 Enter Silently, Write HW in Agenda, Begin Opening! HW: STUDY VAIN CAPP FLASH CARDS, QUIZ MONDAY! Opening: Set VAIN CAPP chart on desk. Recite 8 parts of speech in your head silently. You should know them from memory.

2 Book Check-out Procedures You may check out ONLY ONE BOOK AT A TIME. Create a card like the example provided below.

3 Book Check-out Procedures Write the title and the date you are taking the book out of the classroom. You do NOT need teacher’s initials to check out a book. Put your card in the index card box for your class period in ABC order by last names.

4 Book Check-out Procedures If you check out a book from this classroom, you must bring it to class Everyday.

5 Book Check-out Procedures When you return the book, Write the return date on your card. Bring your card AND the book to the teacher’s desk. The teacher will initial that you have returned the book. Put your card back in the box. Re-shelve the book on the appropriate shelf.

6 PLUSSES & MINUSES If you return the book with a “Book Review” AT THE SAME TIME, you will receive a Dum-Dum lollipop. Failure to follow these simple procedures will result in your loss of the privilege of checking out Mr. Nash’s books.

17 STUDY & CHECK OUT A BOOK Study quietly with a classmate that is at a desk next to you. (You may study independently if you wish.) When your row is called, you may look around for a book to check out if you want. It is not required, but you need a book soon. We will go to the Media Center tomorrow. Talk about books only. Do not socialize. If you want to take the book, fill out your check- out card and put it in the index card box for your class.
