2. 1. Why were the animals greatful they were not working for humans?  They realized everything they did was for the benefit of themselves and those of their kind who would come after them.

3. 2. Why was the work on Sundays not really voluntarily?  Any animal who absented himself from it would have his rations reduced by half.

4. 3. What kind of winter did the animals face?  A hard one.

5. 4. What part did Boxer play in the project?  Nothing could have been achieved without Boxer.  His strength made the project a success.  He started to work earlier and worked in his spare moments.

6. 5. What did the animals short on the farm?  Paraffin, oil, nails  String, dog biscuits, iron for horse shoes  Seeds, artificial manure  Tools  Machinery for the Windmill

7. 6. Which rule of Animalism did Napoleon break and why? How did he justify himself?  Napoleon would engage in trade and have dealings with humans.  He will also use money.  Napoleon said the needs of the Windmill must override everything else.  Napoleon said there never was a rule against dealings with humans, because it was not in writing.

17. 16. Napoleon says their plans will be carried out to the day. What day is he talking about.  No specific day.  He just means they go on building until they reach the day they finish.
