Centralized Orientation – Why?? –In-person, general orientation to the GHS way. –Regulatory compliance for all nursing & nursing-related faculty, regardless of GHS employee status Boot Camp – Why?? –Nursing faculty competency validation for key requirements ; mirrors GHS nursing & nursing-related staff Faculty Scope of Practice / Supervision Expectations / Updates –Faculty engagement with students at “all times” on unit; no hanging out at the nurses station or off unit. –Unit Specific Faculty Orientation- Faculty with rotation of students Each semester expectation: Meet with unit “at least” 1 week prior to clinical start date to notify unit of presence. –Student Group Orientation- Faculty responsibility –Individual Student Orientation (Practicum, US, SurgTech)- Manager/Educator to complete –Nursing Faculty Boot Camp Medication Test Alaris Pump Training Infection Prevention- PPE –Pre/Post Conference- enclosed room on unit, conference room, or off campus –Student/Patient Assignments- must create assignments with Charge RN/Supervisor –Nursing Students/Faculty Skill Update: Urinary Catheter Insertion- Removed from Skills at GHS –CAUTI initiatives –Competency training / maintenance
