3 doc.: IEEE 802.15-15-0010-00-0008 Submission Introduction “Frame” and “superframe” are used to refer to the same thing in different parts of P802.15.8 Draft, leading to confusion. “Frame” is also used to refer to something different throughout P802.15.8 Draft, adding to the confusion. IEEE 802.15 TG8 already has a verbal consensus to use “superframe” to remove the confusion. Jan. 2015 Byung-Jae Kwak, et al., ETRISlide 3

4 doc.: IEEE 802.15-15-0010-00-0008 Submission Summary of the Proposed Changes (1/2) Frame  Superframe –To be in line with PAC UWB specification, but also with IEEE 802.15.4 specification. –To differentiate from packet and other usages of the word. Other previous names –Synchronization interval –Ultra-frame –Super-frame. Jan. 2015 Byung-Jae Kwak, et al., ETRISlide 4

5 doc.: IEEE 802.15-15-0010-00-0008 Submission Summary of the Proposed Changes (2/2) There are other usages of the word “frame” that won’t be changed –Use of “frame” referring to “packet” (ex: “frames up to 127 octets”, “ACK frame”, “frame check sequence, etc.) –PHY frame, ultra frame, super frame 1, data frame –TDD frame –UWB frame Jan. 2015 Byung-Jae Kwak, et al., ETRISlide 5 1: TG8 may want to discuss this
