Esenwa (Jnr) 5 3.0 REMUNERATION OF THE QUANTITY SURVEYOR The Quantity Surveyors in Nigeria are remunerated according to an approved scale of fees set out by the Federal Government in the SCALE OF PROFESSIONAL FEES FOR CONSULTANTS IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY (Revised Edition April, 1996). Fees are generally based on a percentage of the value of work handled, varying in accordance with the type of work done or the scope of services rendered.

Esenwa (Jnr) 6 4.0 THE QUANTITY SURVEYOR AND NIGERIAN SOCIETY In many cases, we hear some of our colleagues deposing that no better quality could be obtained in a particular trade in that location. But it is obvious that it is possible that better quality of materials and workmanship could be obtained in all trades in all locations in Nigeria. The reasons for poor quality projects include: - Inaccurate specifications Poor quality control of materials and components. Poor quality control of workmanship by the foreman, supervisor, consultant and/or client’s representative. Bribery and corruption, etc.
