Approach: Make AQ Requirements Consistent with: Clearinghouse AQ Community Catalog User Requirement Registry GEO Task US 0901a: Priority Earth Observations for Air Quality

Approach: Develop and Work through GEO AQ Community of Practice Five-Step Methodology: 1.State the Soc. Benefit Area: e.g. Manage Air Quality 2.Define Workflow Steps 3.Name the Value-Adding Activities 4.Identify Participants in Each Step and 5.Determine the Participant’s EO Needs

Background AQ Management (AQM) and Science relies on a range of on Earth Observations (EO) form in-situ and remote sensing platforms. The the procedures and the outcome of AQM are defined by laws and regulations in most countries including the workflow/activities, the key participants and their respective needs. Hence, AQM is a suitable application area of the Global Observing System of Systems (GEOSS) where the user needs are satisfied by services offered. This is an initial attempt to formulate User Requirements for AQM. The AQ Community of Practice is encouraged to continue its active participation in this effort.

AQ Management: Science View Earth Observations are are most needed for quantifying pollutant emissions, transport and ambient concentrations User Types: Emission Analysts, Modelers, AQ Data Analysts

GEOSS Information Flow Framework Policy Maker Policy Analyst AQ Domain Analyst AQ Analyst Modeler AQ Management: Information Flow View GEOSS Core The AQ Information system processes Earth and other observations into actionable knowledge for policy/decision makers. User Types: AQ data analysts and modelers; health, aquatic and other domain analysts, policy analysts and policy/decision makers

Approach: 1.Use the Process View to identify the workflow steps 2.For each step, list the respective required activities 3.Identify the participants who perform the activities 4.State their respective needs for EOs, tools and methods Work through GEO AQ Community of Practice
