WF on UE capability signaling for FD-MIMO Class B LG Electronics, Intel Coorporation, NTT DOCOMO, Qualcomm 3GPP TSG RAN WG1 Meeting #84 R1-161495 St Julian’s, Malta, 15 th - 19 th February 2016 Agenda item: 7.1.4
2
Background Notations – P: existing max supported number of CSI processes per band per band combination – Kmax: max supported number of NZP CSI-RS resources within a CSI process – Nmax: max supported total number of NZP CSI-RS ports within a CSI process Feature group 4-2 on Class B CSI reporting is being discussed with separated parameters (supported Kmax and Nmax) for UE capability signaling as follows: It was observed, during the discussion, companies prefer to have UE capability signaling as much flexible as possible, which is jointly determined by Kmax, Nmax, and P(=1, 3, or 4).

Proposal For UE capability signaling on Class B CSI reporting, UE reports Kmax(=1,2,…,8) as well as 4 independent values of Nmax1, Nmax2, Nmax3, and Nmax4, per CSI process per band per band combination, as follows: – Nmax1 (=2,4,8) for K=1 configured for a CSI process – Nmax2 (= 4, 8, 16) for K=2 or 3 configured for a CSI process – Nmax3 (= 4, 8, 16, 32) for K=4, 5, 6, or 7 configured for a CSI process – Nmax4 (= 8, 16, 32, 64) for K=8 configured for a CSI process Note that: – Nmax = 0 (for a given K) means the UE does not support the associated K value(s) for the CSI process – If P = 1 for a band per band combination, the above Kmax, Nmax1, Nmax2, Nmax3, and Nmax4 are signalled once. – If P = 3 for a band per band combination, the above Kmax, Nmax1, Nmax2, Nmax3, and Nmax4 are independently signalled three times. – If P = 4 for a band per band combination, the above Kmax, Nmax1, Nmax2, Nmax3, and Nmax4 are independently signalled four times. – RRC signaling details are up to RAN2, based on following this proposal.
