LAUSD Policies on Sexual Harassment & Bullying  Sexual Harassment is… -unwelcome comments, conduct, suggestions, or gestures -same gender or opposite gender -bumping, pushing, pinching, snapping or otherwise physically engaging without someone’s consent -spreading rumors -telling graphic, sexual jokes -making slurs, insults, or threats based on gender -drawing or displaying pictures that are suggestive, explicit, or gender demeaning  Bullying is… -intimidating, pestering, or bothering another student -demanding another student to behave in a certain way or perform a certain act -demanding another student turn over items or allow the bully to play first, cut in line, etc. -verbally assaulting another student with insults or accusations

Growth & Development Video  Parent Preview March 14 @ 8:00 a.m.  Girls’ and Boy’s Video March 18 @ different times  Parents have the option to preview the video and speak to our school nurse prior to the student presentation.  All students must have a signed permission slip in order to see the video and participate in discussion.

8. PARTICIPATION IN 5 TH GRADE ACTIVITIES  80% of Homework  2’s or better in all work/study habits  No fighting or office referrals  Adherence to classroom behavior plan and minimal checks on weekly conduct sheet

9. Science Fair  May 19 th  Mandatory for all fifth-grade students  Aligned to Fifth-Grade Standards  Ribbons will be awarded to 1 st - 4 th place  Those students will go on to the District Science Fair competition on May 26 th

RILEY’S FARM FIELD TRIP  Friday, March 11  Be at school at 6:30 a.m.  Revolutionary War experience  OK to bring iPods, hand held video games, books, $10 spending money, no cell phones, etc. - Dearborn is NOT responsible for these items -Label all items -video games and music need to be age-appropriate, mature content games or music will be confiscated  Bring a sack lunch – no soda  Return to Dearborn around 4:00 p.m.  LAUSD Permission Slips

CULMINATION CEREMONY  Thursday, June 9 @ 9:00 – Holmes Middle School  5 tickets per family (we cannot accommodate more)  Students come to school at regular time (empty hands)  Parent sign-out table outside auditorium  No flowers or balloons for students  Do NOT set up tri-pods or other video equipment in aisles, as they are used during the program.  Students may leave with a family member after the ceremony

Baby Pictures Baby pictures are due by March 11 th for the yearbook.  Deliver pictures to Mrs. Strong in Room 24  Upload the picture directly at Entourage Yearbooks and just remember to put your child's first and last name and room number in the subject. If you would like to upload directly to the yearbook website, here are the instructions: 1) Go to http://www.entourageyearbooks.com 2) Go to "Find Your School" and type in Dearborn 3) Click on "Dearborn Elementary Hard (2016)” 4) Login, if by chance you have one, if not you will have to register 5) When uploading select "5th Grade Baby Picture" category http://www.entourageyearbooks.com
