The User community Currently LSGC gathers users from more than 45 different countries The participating user groups are notably: EGI Biomed VO vlemed VO lsgrid VO neugrid VO German LS User Community LifeWatch ESFRI The supporting NGIs are: Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Swiss The hosting institution is the healthgrid.org non profit organisation

The Goal Be a long term sustainable link between the whole extended community Represent LS DCI users o Negotiate resources o Promote requirements o Liaise with EGI and other providers Coordinate actions o Serve as contact point for new users o Share expertise in the community o Avoid replication of effort o Define common requirements o Encourage sharing of resources, data & tools Provide technical services Training and User Engagement Dissemination

The application areas represented here are very diverse and thus are the needs A non exhaustive list: Nanoinformatics, nanomedicine Bioinformatics VPH Applications Medical imaging Medical Informatics Public Health Ethical, Legal and Social-Economic (ELSE) Issues … Technical Requirements (1/2)

Queues – From a minute to several weeks per job – Some jobs require specific queues for interactive jobs – From a single job to hundred of thousands per batch CE/WN – At least 1GB RAM/core (better 2GB/core) – Working space: min 5 – 10 GB – Request for MPI clusters – Increasing request for GP-GPU clusters Storage – From 1GB to hundreds of TB – Short Term storage to “permanent” storage Technical Requirements (2/2)

Accurate information such as the correct number of slots (total slot number/VRC dedicated slot number, …) and/or storage space Clearly define and publish access/working rules Resource management / Decommissioning OLA/SLA to be agreed on. Operational Requirements (2/2)
