COCOA AMORE CIC EIS Investor Pack

Who are we? Peter Gardner founded his first chocolate business in 2009, during this time he realized the model needed fine tuning. Although the business was a great success the customer experience needed work. Peter sold the business and saw an opportunity to start fresh implementing the lessons he had learnt. In Oct 2013 Cocoa Amore oped its doors to the public. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnzb5k6 s2L8

Quite simply we have built the business around the customer experience. That means no compromise on : Product - Service - Values

Chocolate Making Workshops We have built a reputation for educating our customers on the origins of fine Cocoa and the differences between good and bad chocolate. This is a good source of revenue as well as building a relationship with the customer to keep them coming back time and time again. Workshops seem to also be a great way to connect with potential social responsibilities.

Our Aims  We have always put social values at the core of our business but have found it increasingly evident that we need to re-orientate the business around social impact and become a CIC Over the past year we have worked with a lot of young people who need support guidance and mentoring. It has become apparent that we can make a difference using our chocolate shop as a teaching model. We can and must do more to support our local community and feel we can achieve that by committing to the key areas below Create a Jamie Oliver style Apprenticeship program that both trains and retains. Formalize our Educational Outreach including seminars on entrepreneurial skills and The History of Cocoa and Chocolate

What is a CIC A community interest company is a business with primarily social objectives. Surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community. CICs tackle a wide range of social issues and operate in all parts of the economy. By using business solutions to achieve public good, social enterprises have a distinct and valuable role to play in creating a sustainable and socially inclusive economy.

Giving Something Back Over the past year we have worked with a lot of young people who have required support, guidance and mentoring. It has become apparent that we can make a difference using our chocolate shop as a teaching model. We can and must do more to support our local community and feel we can achieve that by committing to the key areas below Create an Apprenticeship programme that both trains and retains. Formalise our Educational Outreach including seminars on entrepreneurial skills and The History of Cocoa and Chocolate. Investing in a chocolate entrepreneurial hub.
