Final exams and final grades Final exams – in Skyward Average final exam score for all honors classes: 83% See me after school/in PASS to look at final exams Failed? May retake next Mon, Tue, or Wed after school. ○ Retake entire exam. One try only. I’ll review a couple of commonly missed questions now Grades Final grades posted by the weekend (Skyward) Grades are a reflection of content knowledge – nothing can be “done” to “fix” or “improve” them. See me after school/in PASS to discuss Unhappy with grade/performance? ○ See me to discuss how to improve next semester. ○ I’m here to help…

Binders Recycle old assignment sheets (keep 2) Must write down new activities & homework every day Note: 100% homework completion? See me! Recycle most material from before winter break Keep everything after 1/15! Keep (all available online): Binder description Class syllabus (course expectations) Lab report description ALL new handouts clipped into binder New notes, warmups, etc – notebook Label and organize everything by date

Absent reminder If absent: Record assignment sheet from website before you return Get all handouts (see box) See me – this is your responsibility. ○ After school or during PASS ○ You must physically come into this room after an absence. If you do not see me, you will not earn credit.

A note about homework and learning Homework is to help you learn and review material. Homework grades are important in this class. Test grades are MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. “Getting homework done” is important LEARNING material in is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT “Getting homework done” won’t help much on tests. LEARNING MATERIAL will help you do well. If you think assignments are just about “getting points”, you are missing the point entirely.

Course expectations - reminders Grading: 55% tests/quizzes, 35% assignments, 10% participation (attendance counts) No late work Exceptions: one late pass, excused absences (see me) Passes – put your names on them ONE “free tardy” – then sign in for any more (detention) PASS – sign up ahead of time Electronics - keep in backpack/pocket (confiscate if seen) This has become a tiresome issue. Keep them away. Extra credit – one per semester Food: drinks with lids ok, no other food ABSENT THE DAY THIS WAS PRESENTED? GO TO NEXT SLIDE
