4 Dos Online testing is mandatory for all schools. Schools must offer OAKS Online to students. Students may take OAKS Online Math, Reading, and Science tests up to three times per year and OAKS Online Social Sciences tests up to two times per year. Individual students may use paper/pencil tests if it is specified on a student’s IEP or 504 Plan, or if the district documents that the online test is not the most appropriate assessment for the student. Determination to use paper/pencil testing is content-specific. Oaks Online Dos and Don’ts

5 Don’ts UMS users must not share their UMS log-in information and passwords, even with other authorized UMS users. Do not use last years OAKS browser. It is old and moldy. Do not approve students to test until you’re sure the students are taking the right test at the right time. Do not approve a student to take the ELPA unless LEP. It will be easy to make a mistake. Do not let tests linger, they will expire after 45 calendar days. Oaks Online Dos and Don’ts (cont)

The district uses the practice test to identify students for whom the online test is not the most appropriate test and orders Paper/Pencil tests for those students. The district restricts students from accessing the Online test who should not use the system. Promising Practices
