The Lord’s House Is The Lord’s Church Christians are… – – Household of the faith (Gal. 6:10) – – Household of God (Eph. 2:19) The Lord’s house is the Lord’s church (Heb. 10:21; 1 Tim. 3:15; 1 Pet. 2:5; 4:17) Let us consider 7 elements of this prophecy in Isaiah 2
5
1. In the latter days… When? The Lord’s house was established “in the latter days,” in the time of the Messiah (Acts 2:17; Heb. 1:1-2; Jas. 5:3; 2 Tim. 3:1; 1 Pet. 1:5, 20; 2 Pet. 3:3; 1 Jn. 2:18)

2. The mountain of Jehovah’s house… What? The Lord’s house (church) was established on a “mountain”; on divine power and authority (Mt. 16:18; 28:18- 19) This mountain (authority) is above all other authorities (Eph. 1:21-22) and for all time (Heb. 12:22-23, 28)

3. All nations shall flow… Who? The Lord’s house (church) is for all people (Mk. 16:15; Mt. 28:19; Jn. 12:32; Acts 1:8; 2:5-11; Rom. 1:16; 11:25-26; 1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Pet. 3:9)

4. He will teach us… What? The Lord’s house (church) is a teaching body; instruction in God’s word and law are given for salvation and for daily (walk) conduct (Jn. 6:44- 45; Acts 2:41-42; 8:4; Rom. 8:2; 1 Cor. 9:21; Gal. 6:2; Jas. 1:25) People are coming for teaching (Acts 1- 7) and leaving with teaching (Acts 8-28)
9
5. Out of Zion… Where? The Lord’s house (church) began on Pentecost in Jerusalem (Lk. 24:44-47; Acts 1:8; 2:1ff)
10
6. He will judge… The Lord’s house (church) uses Gods’ word/law (the NT) to judge and settle differences and disputes and among men (1 Cor. 5:3; 6:2; Jas. 2:12)
11
7. Neither learn war any more… The Lord’s house (church) will be a place of peace (Jn. 18:36; Acts 9:31; Rom. 12:17-21; 14:19; 2 Cor. 10:4-5; Eph. 2:14-17; 6:10-20) The Lord’s house (church) will also be a place of spiritual prosperity, protection, and priority (Mic. 4:1-5)

Some Practical Lessons We need to be a part of the Lord’s church that was established in the “latter days” (Pentecost); not be a part of something started before or after Pentecost The authority for the Lord’s church is supreme over all other; no human creeds, counsels, synods, rules, etc.
13
Some Practical Lessons The Lord’s church is for all mankind; the gospel is for all; let us take it to all; not keep it to ourselves or be prejudiced The Lord’s church is a teaching body for God’s law/word; not a place for social and recreational activities The Lord’s church began in Jerusalem (Acts 2); not at any other time or place
14
Some Practical Lessons The Lord’s church needs to make mature judgments using God’s word as a basis; not human opinion The Lord’s church needs to be at peace with one another in matters of faith and opinion; not fighting and division
