Influences Supposedly in 1973, he left Mexico for Chile to "help build the revolution" by supporting the socialist regime of Salvador Allende. He wanted to use his writings to connect the world.

Bolano’s Works “2666”- Covers diverse types of fiction from murder mystery to war, from love story to police thriller. One thing that each story has in common is that in each story one saves a love one often in very hellish places. “Los detectives salvajes” (1998, The Savage Detectives, 2007)

Why? New York Times: “the most significant Latin American literary voice of his generation.” His stories represent the world he grew up in and the one that he didn’t.
