Novel Chat What more did you think about the novel? Which events struck you as being the most important?

Unit Project Info (ROTHMC) Create a new ending or sequel to the book (at least 4 paragraphs). Be sure to mimic Mildred D. Taylor’s writing style. Extra Extra! Create a front page for the local newspaper in the novel. Include stories about the fire and the murder. Include pictures, stories, and advertising that might have existed in a newspaper of the 1930s. Write a commercial promoting this book for a school. This can be submitted in a neat storyboard format, as a Powtoon (or something similar), or an actual live action video. Casting Call! Talk about five characters in the book then choose five actors/actresses to play the role of those five characters in a modern version of the film. Be sure to include at least one paragraph per actor to explain why you would cast them in that role. Create Your Own Project You must draft a proposal (in the same format of your Genius Hour proposals) and submit it for approval. Write a letter from T.J., in jail, to one of the other characters in the book. It should be at least a page long and should show what changes, if any, he has experienced. Be sure to include events from the story. Inside Reconstruction: Create an infographic, PPT, or poster illustrating how the Reconstruction era influenced race relations, the geography, and government of the United States. Types of Employment: Create an infographic, PPT, or Poster of the types of employment available to unskilled blacks in the 1930s and compare those to the jobs available to black people now. Include your (fact-supported) opinion on how much or little things have changed. Multi-Media Family Tree : Create a multi-media diagram of the Logan family. Be creative in your presentation and go beyond the standard poster or tri-fold board.

Unit Project Info Create a new ending or sequel to the book (at least 4 paragraphs). Be sure to mimic Harper Lee’s writing style. Extra Extra! Create a front page for the local newspaper in the novel. Include stories about the trial as well as pictures, and advertising that might have existed in a newspaper at that time. Write a speech by Boo Radley. Imagine what he would say about the town where he was raised – a subject upon which he has been completely silent. Use your imagination along with references from the novel to write a convincing speech. Atticus’ Journal : Create either a digital or hard copy of a journal Atticus might have kept during the trial and in the time thereafter. What would have to say privately about what took place? Use evidence from the text to support your creation. Types of Employment: Create an infographic, PPT, or Poster of the types of employment available to unskilled blacks in the 1930s and compare those to the jobs available to black people now. Include your (fact-supported) opinion on how much or little things have changed. Inside Scout’s Future : Based upon the events in the story, what do you think Scout would end up doing with her life? Cite evidence from the text as you present either an epilogue, multi-media presentation, or other illustration of what kind of woman she would become.
