About the Late Policy?
17
Let’s take a look at the rubric for Weeks 1 and 2. According to this rubric, typing 40 words per minute, with 5 or less errors will earn you 50 pts. Any errors over 5 will result in 1 point taken off the wpm. – Example: 50 wpm with 8 errors = 47 wpm.
18
It is always a good idea to attempt the timed writing multiple times. I take the best score to grade. Take some time to review the rubrics for the remaining weeks, the wpm requirements increase, (your wpm should also increase as well.)
19
Timed Writing Rubric
20
For the new class members, and as a refresher for those who have already enrolled in a Keyboarding class, let’s go over how to upload your timed writings into GDP.
21
From the GDP Menu bar, click Upload to display the Upload dialog box seen below.
22
There are two ways to upload your work: – First, If you wish to upload work completed since your last upload, click Upload work completed since your last update. – If you wish to upload all work, click Upload all work. – To be on the safe side, Upload all Work.
23
After choosing the Upload option, click the Upload Work to Student Upload Work Site.
24
After clicking the Upload Work to Student Upload Web Site, the Upload Work dialog box appears. This dialog box tells the student that an upload file has been created. Its location is shown in the window box, identified by the student’s first and last names.
25
This upload file has an extension of EXP. For students at home, this export file would have the following path, or something similar: C:\GDPDATA\ DianeJohnson.EXP. The student now clicks Store the Upload File. GDP then takes the student to the Student Upload Web Site, shown on the next screen.
26
At the Student Upload Web Site, the student pastes the most recent upload file location into the Browse box. Then the student clicks Upload. The upload file is sent from the student’s computer to the Instructor Management Web Site and also to the Student Web Site and placed into the student’s Portfolio.
27
After the upload process has been completed, this confirmation screen appears, telling the student which files were uploaded to the Instructor Management Web Site. This way, the student can verify that the upload was successful and that his/her instructor will be able to view it. If an incorrect e-mail address has been designated in the upload process, a different confirmation screen will appear in which the student is directed to contact his/her instructor for clarification.
28
