RHETORICAL ESSAY PEER EDIT Objective: I will discuss and evaluate the parameters for rhetorical analysis in a peer’s paper. 1.Does the author have a clearly stated, relevant thesis? 2.Are there clear, solid, arguable claims that avoid making such obvious statements as, “Shakespeare uses pathos in Henry’s speeches.” Instead, trying something like, “Shakespeare masterfully employs vivid imagery to emotionally inspire his outnumbered, beleaguered troops to fight for all they love.” 2.Does the most effective data support the claim, balancing quantity and quality. Did the writer remember to correctly cite? Were quotes appropriately introduced. For instance, King Henry so wittily turns one of his army’s greatest deficits into their greatest asset when he admonishes his cousin for desiring more forces, “…if to live, /The fewer men the greater share of honour.” (Shakespeare IV.iii.22-23). 3.Are the warrants explicitly connecting the data to the claim?
