1 GLOBAL EDUCATION

2 ● Is not a subject, but a dimension that runs through the curriculum, an extra filter to help children make sense of all the information and opinion the world is throwing at them.

3 It combines methodology - active and experiential discussion based activities, a caring, co-operative and open outlook on the classroom experience, and core concerns- finding out about all the cultures and of other countries and groups, about the causes of poverty and inequality and about the environment.

4 It reflects the global nature of our society and responds to the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the children in the classroom. It recognizes the entitlement of those children to receive an education which reflects this diversity.

5 The term 'global education' refers to the extent to which global development issues are integrated within the formal curriculum. Global education is seen as a way of extending students' views of the world by exploring their perceptions and connections. It helps them to recognize and think critically about different cultural, economic and political perspectives.

6 Global education can be understood through five concepts that provide a conceptual framework for thinking about issues and building them into the curriculum: Social justice and equity Diversity Globalization and interdependence Sustainable development Peace and conflict

8 Cultural globalization is the rapid transversing of ideas, attitudes and values across national borders. This sharing of ideas generally leads to an interconnectedness and interaction between peoples of diverse cultures and ways of life.globalization Mass mediaMass media and communication technologies are the primary instruments for cultural globalization.
