29. Additional Candidate Support An increasing number of districts have contractual stipends for NBCTs. In those districts the emphasis may be on the district support. NBCTs in Illinois can earn $1,500 for mentoring and/or providing professional development to teachers or NB candidates. Individual NBCTs may recruit and commit to support one or two candidates. Teachers and counselors who submit an application by May 3, 2016, will be reviewed and approved on a first come, first serve basis with priority given in three phases: Phase 1: Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and complete the online Illinois NB Candidate Fee Subsidy application accurately by May 3, 2016 midnight, but do not meet the Priority School Criteria, will be added to the Waiting List. Phase 2: In the event there is funding available after May 3, 2016, candidates who meet the Eligibility Criteria and complete the online Illinois NB Candidate Fee Subsidy application accurately by May 3, 2016 midnight, but do not meet the Priority School Criteria, will be moved from the Waiting List and added to the Verified List on May 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. Phase 3 : Candidates, who complete the online Illinois NB Candidate Fee Subsidy application accurately by May 3, 2016 midnight, are on the Verified List and have registered with NBPTS and paid the yearly, non-refundable $75 registration fee by May 30, 2016 midnight will be posted on the Approval List on the NBRC website.
