2  In 1920 the Mafia activity started to show up after the U.S. government passed the 18 th amendment prohibited the consumption and selling alcohol.  Also known as the prohibition era  This was a huge opportunity for them to start selling alcohol under the government’s noses.  The Mafia is also where we get a well known gangster AL Capone

3  During the Prohibition era, Al Capone was the most famous and notorious gangster who basically ran Chicago.  He was behind the Valentine's day massacre  He was prosecuted & accused for bootlegging, murder, & extortion.  But what put him in jail was tax evasion.

4  There was several men dressed as “policemen”.  This event ended up with seven dead Irish gangsters that were Al Capone’s rivals.  A shooting that is believed that Al Capone was behind of, but never had solid evidence to convict him.

5  Born in Sicily Italy  Part of the Mafia and got his nickname “lucky-Luciano” by surviving a beating and stabbing by enemies of his crime family.  Charles is the reason the organized crime became organized.  He became the top mob boss and created five crime families.

6  Born in Castellammare del Golfo in Sicily in 1898  He was wedded into a crime family which was ran by Stefano Magaddino, Bonanno crime family founder Joseph Bonanno, & Joseph Profaci.  Once he came to the U.S. he used his relationship with crime to get involved in illegal gambling & union racketeering.

7  On July 1,1928, Yale received a strange phone call saying there was something wrong with his wife  He was ambushed by four men. The car he was driving didn’t have armor plating yet nor bullet proofed windows  So he was gunned down. Some say it was Al Capone’s doing  His funeral was one of the most lavish in the mob history. Thousands of people went out on the streets of Brooklyn to watch his coffin pass by. It took 38 car to carry his flowers and two women showed up at the cemetery claiming to be his wife…
