Nile River Valley= fertile Lived in northern valley Kemet= black land Describe the Nile River Valley

Region receives little rainfall Egyptians depended on river for drinking and bathing Water to grow crops They praised the Nile- it was “the creator of all good” How did the Egyptians depend on the Nile?

Describe the Nile Longest river in world Made up of 2 rivers= Blue Nile and White Nile Join south of Egypt to create Nile Cataracts- a waterfall or rapids in a river

Before the Nile reaches the Mediterranean, it splits into braches These waterways form a fan-shaped area of fertile marshland called delta Define Delta

Delta= blocked people sailing from north Cataracts= blocked people from attacking from south Libyan desert (west) and Eastern desert were hot and barren= no one crossed that! Describe how Egypt was isolated

Nile floods were predictable- during the middle of summer When waters receded, the soil was fertile Grew wheat, barley, and flax In dry season, they IRRIGATED! How did the Nile give Egyptians life?
