Chemicals in Tobacco Nicotine-an addictive drug found in all tobacco products Tar-a dark, thick, sticky liquid that forms when tobacco burns. Can cause cancer and emphysema Carbon Monoxide-colorless, odorless poisonous gas. Reduces amount of oxygen blood can carry Ammonia Methanol Cyanide Formaldehyde

Forms of Tobacco Cigarettes-most common form, causes lung cancer and emphysema Cigars and Pipes- More tar, more likely to get cancer of lip, mouth, and throat Smokeless tobacco- placed in mouth and sucked or chewed, causes bad breath, inflamed gums, yellow teeth, cancer of esophagus, larynx, mouth, and pancreas.
