The Framework Industry University World Europe Lisbon Strategy
3
Topics discussed Innovation shall we „teach innovation” to students? Product vs. process innovation Opinions on EIT is it feasible? what are the dangers?
4
Innovation Innovations are driven by market; they shall be also driven by political decisions/needs Industry – proposes innovative products, not really needed Industry: short-time interest; university: long-term Innovation is needed in every field We shall not teach „theory of innovation”, but innovation can be introduced through PBL etc. we shall support students with innovative ideas we shall bring people with ideas to universities; they’ll show
5
EIT Good idea as such. KIC – similar to „Graduierterkolleg” system Good for risky business „Critical mass” seems to be too „critical”; it may lead to conflicts KIC-Universities Look for ways of encouraging university- industry cooperation (e.g. mixed funding)
6
Other remarks Problem of ethics (courses of ethics, not only environment and social awareness, but also other aspects) Not forget about basic research; innovation is based on it Universities with strong cooperation with industry may be driving force for academic community (stimulate other HEIs) If industry demands from universities „tailor-made” courses, it shall assist in their design If we concentrate in our teaching on skills and competences, there will be less place for knowledge very important: property rights
