Welcome to Academic Chemistry 2011 - 2012 Mr. Rickard If this is 3 rd or 7 th period, we also have Mr. Ursino as a teacher. Sorry 5 th period, you just have Mr. Rickard.

Mr. Rickard’s Goals To teach you Chemistry so that you can handle chemicals safely in the real world. understand the chemistry behind everyday things. be prepared for any introductory college level chemistry class you may take. be prepared for AP Chemistry.

Mr. Rickard’s Expectations You are in Academic Chemistry and therefore, Mr. Rickard expects you to – be responsible for your own actions. – be prepared when you come to class. – complete your assignments on time. – participate in class. – study. – ask appropriate questions

The Major Rules Be on time Don't bring food or drinks (it's a lab) Don't use a cell phone Don't use an iPod, mp3 player, etc. Don't use a camera Don't cheat –And yes, that goes for copying someone else's homework AND telling someone else about what was on the English quiz you took earlier in the day

And now… the clickers Remote control clickers Each of you is assigned a specific number and you are to always use that remote Some clicker activities will be graded Wrong remote = wrong grade or no grade Clicker survey (time permitting)

Homework Tonight's homework: –Read through the syllabus –Have your parent/guardian sign it –Bring it back with you tomorrow –Counts as a homework grade
