2 LOOKING AT A PAST PAPER  Today, you will be given the chance to read through a past proficient paper. This will give you a good idea what your final product might look like.  Read through with your group – out loud. Then, discuss each section as it passes.  What was covered in that particular section?  What are some details you noticed?  Fill out the Breakdown sheet (one per group, but everyone in the group contributes information)  Points will be given for participating with your group. If you fill out the sheet productively with your group, you get the points. If you choose to not help, you get a zero.  You will only have 30 minutes to read through and fill out the paper, so you need to be efficient with your time.

3 Policy Identification and Explanation  Addresses your policy’s exact name and number  Says which agency/agencies passed this policy  Clearly identifies what the policy makes illegal, or proposes to do  Defines the penalties for breaking the law  Explains the funding needed toward organizations to support the policy  Complete and thorough explanation of policy  Typically split into two parts:  Part (paragraph?) 1 : “Legal jargon” – the law or policy, identify the agencies involved  Part (paragraph?) 2 : Specifics – complete, thorough explanation of the logistics of the policy.  What does it make illegal?  Penalties?  Funding?  EXPLAIN WHAT LAW DOES
