Reproduction interdite © ALMA EUROPEAN CONSORTIUM Reproduction forbidden Design, Manufacture, Transport and Integration in Chile of ALMA Antennas Page 2 Adjusters Delta-qualification tests will be performed in order to verify the adjusters changes occurred from the ALMA prototype manufacturing and nowadays: Range and accuracy verification will be tested at Adjuster level on the pre-series production Static & Stiffness test will be performed at Adjuster level Thermal Conductivity and CTE will be performed at Adjuster level (TBC) Fatigue test will be performed at Adjuster level (TBC) Hot, Cold and Damp exposure and Temperature Cycling of the bell base + bellow (according to IEC 68-2-x or equivalent standard Stability will be verified at sub-assembly level: the test set-up will include one of the reflector panels and the relevant 1+4 adjusters and the panel temperature will be changed and panel displacement measured (under AAS-I responsibility) Expected required time is 3 months Qualification tests results shall be the go-ahead for the authorization to proceed of the manufacturing of the required adjusters and tools

Reproduction interdite © ALMA EUROPEAN CONSORTIUM Reproduction forbidden Design, Manufacture, Transport and Integration in Chile of ALMA Antennas Page 4 Reflector Panels The windblown dust and sand test, as proposed in AEM TM 10, is under definition and finalization The test will consists of three parts, each of them simulating ten years life: The test will start with three samples subjected to the windblown particles; after 55mn per each orientation (relevant to wind speed 8 m/s) plus 20mn (relevant to wind speed 15 m/s) one of the samples will be removed and checked. The test will continue with same sequence and duration on the remaining two samples; at completion of this second step the second sample will be removed and checked. The last sample will be subjected to the last step of the test and then checked Success criterion will be based on the thermo-optical performance degradation: the absorbance shall not be degraded more than 30%
