2. Coal is a nonrenewable resource and therefore, sometime in the future we will not have it anymore, so we need to adjust to something else, a renewable resource. Such as Biomass. Background information

3. Reason number 1: Biomass can help stop global warming by getting rid of things that could potentially harm the environment, such as land fill gas and waste. Plus, the second largest source of Biomass energy actually comes from waste.(If you’re wondering what the first is it’s wood, but that resource is still as plentiful as waste.)

4. Reason number 2: Coal has to be taken from the ground causing environmental damage, while Biomass you can find in your own backyard as well as landfills, forests and farms.(Biomass comes from crops as well.)

5. Reason number 3: These resources both produce some kind of gas when they are burned. Coal produces acid rain gas, which as implied produces acid rain, which is a constant problem because of it’s ability to dissolve, destroy and rust certain things. While, Biomass (on certain occasions when it is in trash form) produces Methane gas which is the source that is used to make the energy, this method is called land fill gas.

6. Reason number 4: Coal has now become more expensive because of demand from Asia.
