2 About the Natives Americans that lived in the USA. Native Americans in the United States are the indigenous peoples in North America within the boundaries of the present-day continental United States, parts of Alaska, and the island state of Hawaii. They are composed of numerous, distinct tribes, states, and ethnic groups, many of which survive as intact political communities.

3  A source of water so they can drink.  For hunting; since the animals need water it was easier to hunt if they were near water  They needed water for farming.

5  California recognizes water rights that Native Americans had.  During 1848 The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo got their water rights

6  In 1913the water commission act was established to oversee permits with the rights to use surface water.  In 1926 the courts held that a riparian water user was entitled to the full flow of the stream

7  Today the people use water for every thing  They use it for watering their land  Today the water use is not like the Native Americans.  An example of Todays water use.
