2 TASK DESCRIPTION Sensor Technology GOALS/OBJECTIVES Sensor Technology  The goal is to assess the radiation responses of sensor technologies that are relevant to current and future NASA missions, particularly in the category of optical communications data receivers.  Products include radiation test reports on transient effects in APDs from heavy ions and protons, and radiation test reports describing the impact of TID and DD effects on the operating conditions of emerging high gain/low noise detectors (Si internal discrete avalanche photodetectors, InGaAs on Si detectors, and InGaAsP diodes).  This task involves the continued evaluation of radiation effects on avalanche photodiode technologies, emphasizing transient effects.  Evaluation of radiation effects on emerging low noise/high gain detectors (candidates include Si internal discrete avalanche photodetectors, InGaAs on Si detectors, and InGaAsP diodes.
