Commissioning - vacuum 4 Excellent vacuum prior to final line installation Subsequent poor vacuum (10 -4 mbar) Leaks identified in cryostat relief circuit (relief valve, burst disk, pneumatic valve and check valve) Leak arresting check valve installed Vacuum now stable at 2 x 10 -6

Commissioning - helium 5 Helium purge success, takes approx 30 minutes Helium fill sequence Cooldown was good, 3 days Liquefaction is slow, 1.5l/day Interrupted by power failure, no liquid lost Helium empty sequence success, takes 1 day

Commissioning – H/C 6 Ambiguity with heater-chiller In storage for 6 years 10l glycol coolant assumed enough No specs exist for hydride bed cooling circuit Eventually discover that system capacity is ~100l! 21 day lead time contributed to schedule slippage

Commissioning – H/C 7 Working now, with help from manufacturer System has a cooldown delay of approx 1 hour (representative of volume of coolant) Below 0ºC, an offset appears...possibly due to ice build-up on sensor
