ARAB SPRING Term was first used in 2005 when the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq occurred. 1989-TIANANMEN SQUARE In 1989, students protested the oppressive Communist government in China in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China. WOMEN’S RIGHT TO VOTE Women in the United States and England fought for women’s right to vote. The 19 th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified in 1920, giving women the right to vote. PICKING AND PICKETING: CESAR CHAVEZ Cesar Chavez led the Farm Workers Association in order to get better rights for farm workers in the 1960s.
