Hand Washing 101 How to Wash Your Hands 1. Use HOT water. (Kids use warm water) 2. Wet hands and add soap. 3. Scrub hands for 20 seconds away from running water. Thoroughly scrub wrists, under fingernails, around nail beds, and between fingers.

How to Wash Your Hands, Cont. 4. Rinse hands under running water. 5. Dry hands thoroughly with clean paper towel. (so germs can be thrown away) 6. Turn off water using paper towel 7. For the home kitchen, have a separate, clean cloth towel for drying hands vs. drying dishes. It’s best to get a clean towel every time you cook.

What to do away from a sink? Use alcohol disposable wipes Use gel sanitizers. These are good for picnics, lunch boxes, etc…

When to wash your hands? Before and after preparing food, especially after preparing raw meat, poultry, eggs, and seafood. Before you eat After using the bathroom, changing diapers, handling pets, when you sneeze or cough and when you have touched something that may be contaminated (like your nose, mouth, trashcan, etc.)
