5. Scene Summary
Rosalind and Celia have run away into the forest and taken on disguises and pseudonyms to keep from being recognized. Rosalind has taken the name Ganymede, and Celia is going by Aliena.
Orlando has been in the forest carving poems for Rosalind in trees, though he is unaware that she is in the forest and shares affection for him.
Celia tells Rosalind that it is Orlando who has been carving these poems of love for Rosalind.
Rosalind sees Orlando and decides to approach him as Ganymede. She mentions that “There is a young man haunts the forest, that abuses our young plants with carving ‘Rosalind’ on their barks” and Rosalind comes up with a plan saying that she will tutor him so that he may be cured of his love for her.
Orlando admits it is he who has done this, but that he doubts that his affection for Rosalind can be cured. She asks Orlando to call her Rosalind, and “come everyday to my cote and woo me.”
Orlando agrees to come “by faith of his love” to see, who he believes is, Ganymede every day.

Love is universal and timeless.
There are times that people feel like running away from their current lives.
I’ve experienced tricks played on other kids, like what Rosalind did to Orlando.
At times I’ve wanted to prove myself, as Orlando wanted to prove his love for Rosalind.
