Microsoft Equation Editor MGS 8110 Regression and Forecasting

L00E MGS 8110 - MS Equation 2 Objective of module Learn how to access Microsoft (MS) Equation Editor. Practice using the equation editor to write algebraic script.

L00E MGS 8110 - MS Equation 3 Access to MS Equation In WORD, EXCEL or POWER POINT, click on “Insert” on the toolbar. click on “Object” in the dropdown menu. Click on Microsoft Equation in the dropdown menu.

L00E MGS 8110 - MS Equation 4 Usage will be demonstrated in Class

L00E MGS 8110 - MS Equation 5 If MS Equation is not on your computer. Access your original MS Office CD and run setup. Work through the menus to find the option to load MS Equation. You should not have to re-load all the office programs. (Note, you should be referencing the “MS OFFICE” CD, not the general “Windows OS” (Operating System) CD. Alternatively, 1.Close Excel 2.Copy the file “Trigger for MS Equation.xls” to your hard drive from our web page. 3.Open “Trigger for MS Equation.xls” which will then try to open Excel. 4. Your computer will then ask you if you want to load the MS Equation subroutine. Respond “Yes”. You may be asked to insert the MS Office CD.

L00E MGS 8110 - MS Equation 6 Other features of MS Equation Most features of MS equation can be learned by self-study, that is trial and error practice. The two exceptions are: –To skip a space, hold down the CTRL key and hit the space bar. –To skip to a tab, hold down the CTRL key and hit the tab key.

L00E MGS 8110 - MS Equation 7 Distortion correction procedure Sometimes you equation will be come graphically distorted. All of the character will be very skinny or large amounts of space will be created between terms in an equation. To correct this situation, COPY the equation, open WORD and then PASTE the equation into WORD. The WORD program will automatically correct the distortion. COPY the correctly proportioned equation and then PASTE it back into EXCEL.
