2 many “crowds” that Jesus interacted with.
During the course of this Sermon Series, we have looked at many “crowds” that Jesus interacted with. The large crowd that cheered for Him on Palm Sunday treated Jesus like a rock star.

3 “Palm Sunday” Passages:
Matthew 21: 1-11 Mark 11: 1-11 Luke 19: 28-44 John 12: 12-19

4 Zechariah 9: 9-12 Luke 19: 30-31 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”

5 Mark 11: 8-10 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” 10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

6 25 Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success!
Psalm 118: 25-26 25 Lord, save us!     Lord, grant us success! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

7 Luke 19: 37-38 37 … The whole crowd
of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: 38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”

8 Matthew 21: 10-11 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” 11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

9 John 2: 23-25 (New Living Translation)
23 “Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in Him. 24 But Jesus didn’t trust them, because He knew all about people. 25 No one needed to tell Him about human nature, for He knew what was in each person’s heart.”

10 of the Temple. For over 3 years,
In Luke 19: 41-44, Jesus weeps over Jerusalem and the future destruction of the Temple. For over 3 years, Jesus shared His heavenly light with Israel and their time with Him is nearly over.

11 has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.”
Psalm 118: 22-23 22 “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; 23 the Lord has done this,     and it is marvelous in our eyes.”

12 The Sanhedrin considered Jesus just another “flavor of the month”
At the time of Jesus, there were many “false Messiahs” that came and went. The Sanhedrin considered Jesus just another “flavor of the month” and therefore discounted the Christian church movement in Acts 5: 35-40; feeling that it would die soon after He did.

13 they loved human praise more than praise from God.
John 12: 42-43 42 …many even among the leaders believed in Him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved human praise more than praise from God.

14 Luke 9: 23-24, 26 23  “…Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when He comes in His glory”

15 This Palm Sunday we celebrate Jesus: The righteous and humble King
that offers true peace to the Earth through His blood in a New Covenant. He’s not interested in casual “fans.” He’s searching for true “followers.” Are you in?
