5. Why the Change?  Literacy has always been evolving…  People in social linguistics, history, cultural studies, etc., pursue equity, fairness in how we define literacy… and how it defines us. and how it defines us.

13. In Conclusion-- Educators need to learn HOW, WHY, and WHAT in multiple literacies, i.e. do our homework. New materials may well mean a new approach to curriculum and pedagogy— more democratic? Lots of research needs doing, especially by teachers. Media literacy=multiple literacies.
